Update from our President (December 14, 2017): It’s been great to see the nice weather over the past months (depending on your feelings about winter), but extremely challenging for the creation of our ice at the Ekota rink.

Our plans were to create the ice within the boarded rink and have it operational for first week of December, then follow up soon after with the creation of a smaller, snow mound rink near the rink shack.

As with many other Community Leagues that provide skating, we have been unable to create the required base and keep a consistent addition of levels to make the rink(s) operational and safe.

We began our flooding efforts in mid November and were gaining steam with the creation of the ice, but that momentum quickly stalled based on rising temperatures and inconsistencies with temperatures below -2 Celcius.

We are continually monitoring temperatures, with future forecasts looking promising closer to Christmas. We will keep you all up to date — on Facebook and our website — as to when we can provide an enjoyable skating experience.

Thank you for your patience.
