New Speed Bumps in Knottwood.

The City of Edmonton is installing three asphalt speed humps along 17 Avenue/81 Street between Knottwood Road West and Knottwood Road North to improve safety for all road users. Installation is expected to start as early as August 25, weather and resource permitting. Installation will take approximately one week to complete.

WHY ARE THESE MEASURES BEING INSTALLED?

These measures are meant to slow drivers down, which can prevent crashes and reduce the severity of crashes that do happen. This improves safety and livability for all.

According to the Canadian Guide to Traffic Calming, measures like speed tables and speed humps have been shown to reduce speeds between 6 and 13 km/h! This is just one way we’re working to make streets safer and more livable.

WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED DURING INSTALLATION?

While traffic flow is maintained during the installation, please expect impacts to on-street parking and noise in the area. Construction equipment and workers will also be moving around the neighbourhood. Vehicles can drive on new speed humps immediately after the installation is complete. Please be cautious of the hot asphalt.
