The Knottwood Community League is looking to start a Fibre Arts Club where we can meet weekly to work on our knitting/crocheting projects with our neighbours!
But first, we need to get our community members skilled in the art of knitting (and eventually crocheting).  With help from Allison Barnes, the owner of Allison Barnes Yarns, we will meet weekly starting on Wednesday, January 23 and work on a variety of knitting projects.
How the Group will Work: There are 20 spots available in the training group (adults only, please). Once we have completed the hat with pom pom, we will work on two more knitting projects and will eventually look at crocheting. Costs will vary for each individual project.
Once our workshops portion is done, we will look into starting a weekly group for all knitters/crocheters to meet at the hall to work on their individual projects, help each other, answer questions, fix mistakes and make new friends! Stay tuned for more information!

Project #1

Our first knitting workshop will be for absolute beginners and will teach you the basics of knitting with our first project: a hat with a pom pom. With this project, you will learn how to cast on, the knit stitch, and how to bind off and close the hat.

Wednesday evenings starting on January 23, 2019
Project is lead by Allison Barnes, Owner of Allison Barnes Yarns.
Cost for the Hat with Pom Pom workshop (plus you must bring your own supplies — see below)
$10 per CL member (any league)
$20 for non-CL members
Supplies needed for the Hat with Pom Pom project are:
  • One ball (100 grams) of worsted weight (#4) yarn
  • 6mm (size US 10) straight needles
  • Darning needle
Allison will have some of her beautiful yarn available to purchase and will offer discounts for club participants.
Registration will be open to Knottwood Community League Members first until Saturday, December 8. After this point, registration will open up to other Community League members and non-members.
