DESCRIPTION:The City of Edmonton’s Community Forestry team and the Knottwood Community League invite you to join us in celebrating National Forest Week with the planting of 20 new trees in the Satoo\, Menisa\, and Ekota communities. \nStep outside\, connect with nature\, and discover the many benefits of Edmonton’s urban forest. \nThis free\, family-friendly event will feature: \n\n\nA guided tree walk exploring Edmonton’s tree species \n\n\nA dendrochronology station hosted by the Northern Forestry Centre \n\n\nA beneficial bug display \n\n\nIndigenous teachings and perspectives from the land \n\n\nAn “Ask an Arborist” booth \n\n\nYou’ll also meet local groups including CPAWS with their Grand Tour of Alberta conservation board game\, YEG’s Touch Grass Club\, and local landscaping experts. \nNational Forest Week is a time for Canadians to celebrate our forests and the countless ways they support our lives. DESCRIPTION:We’re Hitting the Streets \n\nThis September\, our Board members and Knottwood Scouts will be delivering door hangers with info about the league – but we need more volunteers to help us reach every home in Knottwood (approximately 5\,000!).\n\nMost of our members currently live in Satoo\, and we’re hoping to connect with more neighbours in Ekota and Menisa.\n\nYou can deliver door hangers at your own convenience during the first few weeks of September\, or join our community-wide blitz on Saturday\, September 13.\nWhether you’d like to cover a few streets near your home or take on a larger area\, we’ll assign routes so every corner of Knottwood is reached.\n\nSign up to volunteer here\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVolunteer Appreciation BBQ:Take a break and enjoy a Real Deal Meats hot dog at the Volunteer BBQ at the Ekota Rink on Saturday\, September 13 from 11 am to 1 pm. \n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions?
