DESCRIPTION:Have you ever considered how you could play a role in preventing crime within your community or organization? \nWe invite you to join CPTED Practitioners\, John Beatson from CPTED Alberta\, and Kimberly Shaw from the Knottwood Community League for an Introduction to CPTED course\, February 2-4\, 2024\, at the Knottwood Community Centre. This course is designed to assist community leaders and organizations in developing effective crime prevention initiatives and programs and can be used towards the International CPTED Association’s certification. \nCrime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a philosophy that encourages the use of design to eliminate or reduce criminal behaviour. Using CPTED principles at your home or business or in your community poses a challenge for criminals and reduces your risk of becoming a victim. \nThe theory is based on five key principles: natural access control\, natural surveillance\, territoriality\, activity support\, and maintenance. DESCRIPTION:Being a victim is a topic that people would like to avoid. Unfortunately\, we live in an increasingly dangerous society where we’re faced with bullying\, assaults\, and other forms of aggression. Learning to defend yourself is an important life skill. \nSpend 3 hours with us learning some simple and effective self-defense tactics that one day may be needed to defend yourself or loved ones. \nOur aim is to help you build confidence while we teach you effective and efficient techniques and tactics to be able to defend yourself in a range of situations. \nLearn the same techniques and tactics that we have taught to individuals in law enforcement\, security\, and the Military.\nWe will incorporate weapon defense\, use of surroundings and psychological techniques in our workshop. \nSaturday\, February 24 \, 2024\n1-4 p.m.\nKnottwood Community Centre \n$20 for CL members\n$30 for non-CL members \nWe will need a minimum of 6 participants for the workshop to run\, so if you’re interested\, please help us spread the word! \nQuestions?
