The second annual Holiday Lights in Knottwood!\nEkota\, Menisa and Satoo: This is your chance to show off your houses for the holidays.\nDo you love to decorate the exterior of your home for the holidays? Or have a neighbour who’s light display is something to be seen? Then we invite you to take part in Knottwood’s second annual Holiday Light Contest. \nHow it works \nSend us a photo(s) or your house or nominate your neighbour. Pictures will be posted to our Knottwood Community League Facebook page and Instagram pages where our followers will vote. \nThe top three houses with the most likes or hearts will win some Knottwood swag\, including a community league membership (which gets you access to free swimming\, skating and more)\, and passes to popular City of Edmonton attractions. The winning homes will also be featured in the January issue of Knottwood News. \nVIEW HOLIDAY LIGHT ENTRIES \nPlease help us spread the word! \nThe contest runs from November 27 to January 10. DESCRIPTION:This January\, we are bringing back the very popular Lego Workshop for Kids! Participants will use LEGO® bricks as a CREATIVE MEDIUM to bring their ideas to life. \nDuring the workshop\, Lego Mentors will lead the kids through games and activities — all using Lego! There will be challenges\, teamwork\, fun “homework”\, plus prizes and a lot of fun. \nThis workshop can help engage\, motivate and support the “Builders of Today” in hopes to empower them as they build their way towards a creative future. \nNo experience necessary. SUMMARY:Knottwood Knitting Club - Beginner Knitting Class: Hat
DESCRIPTION:The Knottwood Community League is looking to start a Fibre Arts Club where we can meet weekly to work on our knitting/crocheting projects with our neighbours!\n\nBut first\, we need to get our community members skilled in the art of knitting (and eventually crocheting).  With help from Allison Barnes\, the owner of Allison Barnes Yarns\, we will meet weekly starting on Wednesday\, January 23 and work on a variety of knitting projects.\n\nHow the Group will Work: There are 20 spots available in the training group (adults only\, please). Once we have completed the hat with pom pom\, we will work on two more knitting projects and will eventually look at crocheting. Costs will vary for each individual project.\n\nOnce our workshops portion is done\, we will look into starting a weekly group for all knitters/crocheters to meet at the hall to work on their individual projects\, help each other\, answer questions\, fix mistakes and make new friends! Stay tuned for more information!\n\nProject #1\nOur first knitting workshop will be for absolute beginners and will teach you the basics of knitting with our first project: a hat with a pom pom. With this project\, you will learn how to cast on\, the knit stitch\, and how to bind off and close the hat.\nWednesday evenings starting on January 23\, 2019\nProject is lead by Allison Barnes\, Owner of Allison Barnes Yarns.\n\n\n\n\nCost for the Hat with Pom Pom workshop (plus you must bring your own supplies — see below)\n$10 per CL member (any league)\n$20 for non-CL members\n\n\nSupplies needed for the Hat with Pom Pom project are:\n\nOne ball (100 grams) of worsted weight (#4) yarn\n6mm (size US 10) straight needles\nDarning needle\n\nAllison will have some of her beautiful yarn available to purchase and will offer discounts for club participants.\n\n\nRegistration will be open to Knottwood Community League Members first until Saturday\, December 8.
