SUMMARY:Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED: Level 1)
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever considered how you could play a role in preventing crime within your community or organization? \nWe invite you to join CPTED Practitioners\, John Beatson from CPTED Alberta\, and Kimberly Shaw from the Knottwood Community League for an Introduction to CPTED course\, February 2-4\, 2024\, at the Knottwood Community Centre. This course is designed to assist community leaders and organizations in developing effective crime prevention initiatives and programs and can be used towards the International CPTED Association’s certification. \nCrime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is a philosophy that encourages the use of design to eliminate or reduce criminal behaviour. Using CPTED principles at your home or business or in your community poses a challenge for criminals and reduces your risk of becoming a victim. \nThe theory is based on five key principles: natural access control\, natural surveillance\, territoriality\, activity support\, and maintenance. When understood and applied together\, these principles can be integrated offering multiple layers of protection and safety. \nCost: $495 (discounts available for non-profts and community league members. *)\nFebruary 2-4\, 2024\n8:30am – 4pm (each day)\nKnottwood Community Centre\, 449 Knottwood Rd W Northwest \nThe Knottwood Community League is also sponsoring two Knottwood League community members to take the course.  \nIf you’re passionate about making a positive impact on crime prevention in your community through CPTED\, we encourage you to register for the course here: https://cptedalberta.com/courses/ \n***Note: $395 discounted rates are available for Community League members and non-profit organizations. When registering\, please provide the Community League name (along with the membership number) or the non-profit organization name to take advantage of the discounted rate. \nQuestions or like to apply for one of the sponsored spots? Email Kimberly Shaw at programs@knottwoodcommunity.ca. \n
